Website Cost Calculator: Estimate Your Build and Running Costs
This calculator turns published UK price ranges into an estimate for your website: pick a route, choose whether to include VAT, and see the likely build cost, yearly running costs and a three-year total. The figures are ranges from UK guides, not quotes, so use them to sense-check offers.

Where the figures come from
The ranges come from UK agency and comparison guides we reviewed in October 2026. They differ between sources, and each supplier prices its own offer, so treat them as a guide and not a quote. Our guide to what a small business website costs in the UK lists the sources and explains what drives the price.

What the estimate does not include
- Writing: a professional UK copywriter is quoted at about £150 to £500 per page in one guide.
- Photography and video.
- Ecommerce features beyond a standard build.
- Search optimisation and ongoing marketing.
- Training and changes after launch, unless included in the supplier’s price.
How to use the estimate
If a quote sits far below the range, ask what is missing. If it sits far above, ask what you are paying for. Then compare routes in website builder vs freelancer vs agency, and read what a good site should do in website design for local businesses.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a quote?
No. It is an estimate built from published UK ranges. A real quote depends on what you need.
Why are the ranges so wide?
Websites vary in pages, design, features, content and support, and each supplier prices differently.
Does the estimate include VAT?
Only if you tick the VAT box. Many UK quotes are shown before VAT, so check which applies.
Are running costs really needed?
Yes. Domains, hosting, security, updates and changes continue after launch. One UK guide suggests budgeting about £500 to £2,500 a year for a typical small business site.
Is my information stored or sent anywhere?
No. The calculator runs in your browser, and nothing you choose is sent to us or stored.
