Price Mismatch Error in Google Merchant Center: Why It Happens
A price or availability mismatch means the feed says one thing and your product page says another. Google compares them and disapproves products that disagree. Common causes are sale prices that change on the site but not in the feed, VAT included in one and not the other, stock status that is out of date, and a feed that updates too rarely. Sync them from the same data.

What the error means
Google checks that the price and availability in your feed match what a customer sees on the product page. When they differ, it disapproves the product. Specialists describe this as one of the most common disapproval reasons, and note that product pages and structured data on the page are compared with the feed.
Common causes
- Sale prices changed on the site but not in the feed, or the other way round.
- VAT included in one and not the other. UK and EU feed guidance says prices should include VAT.
- Stock status that is out of date: a product sold out on the site but available in the feed.
- A feed that updates too rarely for the pace of price and stock changes.
- Currency or rounding differences.
- Variants, where the feed shows one variant’s price and the page loads another.
- Page markup that shows a different price from the visible price.

How to fix it
- In Diagnostics, open the mismatch issue and note examples.
- Open each example’s page and compare the visible price and stock with the feed.
- Find the cause from the list above.
- Make the price, sale price, VAT treatment and stock come from one source in your shop.
- Increase how often the feed updates, or switch on automatic updates for price and stock.
- Check that structured data on the page matches the visible price.
- Request a review where Merchant Center offers one, and check Diagnostics again.
Prevent it
- Sync the feed from the shop automatically, not by hand.
- Test a few products after any price change or sale.
- Keep sale prices and dates in the feed in step with the site.
- Check Diagnostics at least weekly.

Frequently asked questions
What causes a price mismatch in Merchant Center?
The feed price differs from the price on the product page, often because of a sale, VAT or a slow feed update.
Do UK prices need to include VAT?
Specialist guidance says prices in UK and EU feeds should include VAT. Check Google’s current requirement.
How often should my feed update?
As often as your prices and stock change. Many shops update at least daily, or automatically when something changes.
Can a mismatch suspend my account?
Repeated or widespread problems can lead to bigger issues. See what to do if your account is suspended.
Do I need to fix every product?
Fix the cause, not each product: one rule that syncs price and stock fixes them all.
