Google Review Request Templates for Text, Email and QR Cards
A good review request is short, thanks the customer, asks for an honest review, gives a direct link and offers nothing in return. Send it soon after the job, to every customer, not only the ones you think are happy. These templates cover text, email, in person and QR cards; edit them into your own voice and never add a reward.

Before you send
- Get your review link: search for your business while signed in to your Google Business Profile and copy it.
- Ask every customer, not only happy ones. See the UK rules on rewarding reviews.
- Offer nothing in return, and do not suggest what rating to give.
- Ask for an honest review in the customer’s own words. Never write one for them.
- Reply to every review that arrives. See how to respond to a bad Google review.

Timing
These are suggestions to adapt, not sourced standards.
| Moment | Suggested approach |
|---|---|
| Straight after the job | Ask in person and send the link |
| Within a day or two | Text or email with the link |
| A week later | One gentle reminder only |
| After a problem is fixed | Ask, as for any customer |

What to avoid
- Any reward, discount, gift or prize draw.
- Asking for five stars or for a positive review. Ask for an honest review.
- Steering unhappy customers to a private form instead of the public page. You can offer a way to contact you, but never discourage a public review.
- Pre-written reviews for the customer to paste.
- Repeated reminders.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best way to ask for a Google review?
Ask in person, then send a short text or email with a direct link soon after the job. Ask everyone, and ask for an honest review.
Can I ask for a five-star review?
No. Ask for an honest review. Asking for a particular rating can steer customers and breaks the spirit of the rules.
How do I make a QR code for my reviews?
Copy your review link, shorten it if you like, and create a QR code from it with a free generator. Test it on a phone before printing.
How many times should I ask?
Once at the time, and one gentle reminder a week later at most.
Can I send review requests by text?
A short request after a job is common. Keep it to that, and check the rules on messages; see UK rules for emailing and texting customers.
